A few years ago, I attended a conference for business owners discussing the importance of ethics and purpose in business.
Things were going great until someone stood up and asked ‘that’ question. But wait, I’m getting ahead of myself.
Hello, my name is Drew Browne and I'm the Founder of Sapience Financial and Investment Services.
In 2019 we celebrated 20 years of providing financial service to the community.
So we're driven to helping our clients, friends, and supporter think bigger about their lives and what they can bring to the world
Our origin story
I began life in the legal arena and for many years I enjoyed a growing and successful career, providing specialised legal training to very clever people. As I climbed the professional ladder my skills become more in demand and finally saw me working an average of 65 hours a week.
This was to become an unsustainable part of my life that soon cost me more than it paid.
Unusual headaches, eye strain, and a growingly persistent sore throat seemed to become a normal part of my life. When I finally got time to drop into the casualty department and see a doctor one afternoon, he called me back for urgent surgery the following morning to remove a growth from my larynx.
To cut a long story short, this event cost me my job, my career and very nearly everything else.
Over time, I had to find a way to start life again.
No one had ever taken the time to explain to me the value of financial advice, how to protect myself and my future, insure my income earning capacity and how to make the most of my financial position.
I had fallen foul of the simple statistical realities of life; my numbers came up you could say and ultimately my ignorance cost me and my family significantly.
I've always been a person who wanted to decide who I was rather than just let external circumstances dictate my responses to life and people. Admittedly, this is easier said than done.
Admittedly, this is easier said than done.
Throughout the time of my sickness, I was reminded of the quote in Viktor E Frankl's book Man's Search for Meaning;
'Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.'Viktor Frankl 1946
Early days
After two lost years of ill health, I began to look for ways to make sure this disaster could never happen to me or my friends and family again. As I began my long journey back from the fog, I saw that the financial advice industry was fragmented and confusing to the average person. Any advice was limited to what products a particular professional had to sell and they often had no resemblance to my actual needs.
Over the next few years, I gained a comprehensive set of new qualifications and a lot of hard-won insights into why as an educated professional person, had fallen through the cracks and suffered so much damage.
In I 1999 established the company that was to become Sapience Financial Investment Services.
So we invite you to become a better version of yourself, the easy way. Learn from our mistakes, benefit from our hard-won expertise and position yourself and your family to become more life confident. by learning what you need to know
In today's fast-paced world, wisdom has been replaced by knowledge and knowledge by data points and search engines.
The only way you can successfully navigate through the increasingly complex maze which is financial life is to connect with a financial professional who's able to share their wisdom and expertise with you and your family.
We call that Sapience.
Why not make our story, part of your story.
