Osteoporosis
Osteoporosis is a condition that causes the bones to become fragile, thin, and weak.
- Changes in the quality and strength make bones more likely to break or fracture
- Osteoporosis is more common in women and people over the age of 50 year
- Osteoporosis is often not diagnosed until a fracture occurs
It is uncommon for osteoporosis-related fractures to be isolated incidents.
Patients who suffer a minimal fracture due to Osteoporosis, have a significantly greater risk of having another fracture and most will experience this within 4 years of their first fracture.
The likelihood is 147 in the first year and 1–21 within 2 years.
