Sapience is a brand ambassador for Opportunity International Australia
Sapience has chosen to partner for the long term with Opportunity as our implementation partner of choice, working with the entrepreneurial extreme poor to help build capacity through equal access to financial services
Simple: without a purpose and an expressed passion nothing is sustainable: both personally or professionally.
We believe that small business has the power to change families, communities and entire nations. Small business really is the essential engine room of a country.
Sapience understands and supports small business families in Australia. So we look to support the best charity development partner who understands the small business needs in the developing world.
We get to contribute in many ways
One of the ways we share our passion through our business relationships is with our clients, friends and supporters and to encourage the to think bigger about who they are, what they have to offer the world and how they might make a difference in their own community and to reward them for simply doing business with us.
The Opportunity International Network consists of five support partners: Australia, United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Germany. Together they work through 25 developing countries throughout Asia, Africa, Latin American and Eastern Europe. The organisation has over 40 years experience working to end poverty has been both runner-up and 2012 Winner PWC Transparency Awards as an organisation that offers world class quality and transparent reporting.
One of the key elements of giving is to be obsessed with ensuring that money is put to good use
An Entrepreneurs focus is on the outcome and the absolute efficient and effective delivery of a solution. With a focus on gaining the biggest benefit per buck waste, inefficiency, poor governance and under-utilisation of resources and skills are seen as impediments to building capacity and sustainability.
When paired with Purpose and the desire to be the change we want to see in the world, the intersection of these capacities drives an effective business approach to philanthropy.
Taking a philanthropic approach to capacity building rather than risking a charity approach creating dependency is a core driver to our vision.
Simply put, Opportunity's strategy is to work with the entrepreneurial poor to create jobs in developing countries, stimulate small business and strengthen communities amongst the poor.
They simply work as a not-for-profit organisation that uses a business approach to help solve the problem of poverty in the developing countries of the world.
Microfinance starts with one life being transformed. It then goes on to transform that person's family. Small loans enable people in poverty to start businesses and provide for their families. Many go on to employ others, causing a ripple effect that can lift whole communities out of poverty.
Because small businesses boost the local economy, a community begins to transform. Finally, because the nature of micro finance means each loan is repaid, and then relent back into the community again and again, the whole process restarts and continues, helping a different person, a different family member, a different community.

Sustainability is only made possible through good governance and transparency. Much of their work is with local NGO at the governance and process level and their ability to leverage donations means that for every 1 dollar donated, it can have the leveraged effect of another x5
